Don’t Miss the Warning Signs of Gum Disease
Gingivitis is recognized by symptoms such as gums that bleed without much pressure being applied or that bleed frequently when brushing. Gingivitis will also cause your gums to change color from pink to red.
Periodontitis will also cause the teeth to loosen. It produces a sour taste in the mouth. The biggest key to this disease is the space between teeth widening and the there can be pus between the teeth and gums.
The last commonality between periodontitis and gingivitis is that they are both preventable and treatable. At the first sign of trouble call your dentist, and make sure to keep your regularly scheduled appointments every six months.
It is easier to have consistently good home care, get regular cleanings, x-rays and oral cancer screening so that you don’t have to ever be told that you have gum disease.
However, if you have been told that you already have periodontal disease, please work with your dental hygienist and dentist. They are the experts and will guide you through the treatments that are recommended. He/she will be able to help you to stabilize the disease and possibly even improve your condition.
