Dental care products are important to your dental hygiene – but if you’ve visited your local drugstore or retailer lately and shopped for dental care products, you know it can be hard to know which of the array of toothbrushes and toothpastes are the best!
There are no easy answers, but we will try to help you narrow the field.Lets start with your toothbrush:
A soft bristled brush is the best, it will make sure that the bristles are not damaging to your teeth or gums. Choose a brush that has a small head, it helps to reach into the smaller corners and areas of your mouth. We recommend high quality Sonicareor Oral B electric toothbrushes, and have those available for purchase during your next visit with us.
Remember to change your toothbrush or electric toothbrush head every three months; change it sooner if it starts to show wear. Also change that toothbrush if you have had the cold, flu or strep, to prevent reinfections.
Now, let’s move on to your toothpaste. It’s not all about the scents and colors!
Does your water have fluoride added? If not, you may want to consider a paste with fluoride included. If you have sensitive teeth, look for toothpaste that is formulated for sensitive teeth. Finally on your next visit to our office, be sure and ask for a specific recommendation based on your individual needs.
Are you – or your kids – involved in sports in our Wayzata area schools? One of the best ways to protect your teeth comfortably is with a custom-fit mouth guard. Custom fit mouth guards are pressed and hand-cut to fit based on a dental model of your teeth – ensuring you’ll have great comfort and protection for your teeth as well.
The best source for recommendations for tooth and mouth care products is your dental professional — don’t be afraid to ask us for more information!
